The Day After: Week 9

Sam Pittman now has a win over every SEC West team except Alabama. The Hogs are feeling good on offense after a second-straight 500-yard performance.

On defense, the Hogs looked much stronger, allowing less than 400 yards before the game went to garbage time. There’s still a lot to work on, especially on third down, but it was encouraging nonetheless to see the defense clamp down for long stretches.

Around the SEC

Tennessee 44, Kentucky 6. Yikes, Kentucky. It was about this time in 2019 that we all began to ask, “is anyone actually going to stop LSU’s offense?” That’s where Tennessee is now. The Vols’ pass defense, a weakness to this point in the season, shined in this one, picking off Will Levis three times.

Georgia 42, Florida 20. Next week’s Georgia-Tennessee game should be fun.

Missouri 23, South Carolina 10. Hope you had fun in the top 25, Gamecocks. South Carolina is obviously not one of the nation’s 25 best teams, but AP voters are lazy, dumb, or both. Guess the voters will have to find some other random 2-loss team to stick in the poll. (UPDATE: That team is Liberty. LOL)

Ole Miss 31, Texas A&M 28. Conner Weigman actually looked pretty good at quarterback for the Aggies. Of course, Ole Miss’s defense is not good. The Rebel offense led the way in this one, dropping the Aggies to 3-5. If A&M loses to LSU, they have to win their other three games just to make a bowl.
