Arkansas’ “real season” begins in Week 3 with a home game against BYU. Last season’s 52-35 win in Provo was fun. Can the Hogs get their offense back on track? It will be sorely needed against Kedon Slovis and a potentially-dangerous BYU offense.
Games to Watch
LSU at Mississippi State (11 am, ESPN). LSU starts its rebound campaign on the road against a veteran-but-transitioning Mississippi State team. The Bulldogs haven’t been overly impressive – they needed overtime to knock off a mediocre Arizona team at home – but they have a ton of veteran players, including QB Will Rogers. Can LSU’s secondary recover from the nightmare against Florida State?
Kansas State at Mizzou (11 am, SEC Network). The Wildcats are favored in Columbia. Mizzou struggled with Middle Tennessee last week and still is looking for answers on offense. That could be a problem against the reigning Big XII champs.
Georgia at South Carolina (2:30 pm, CBS). South Carolina’s inability to protect Spencer Rattler will likely be their demise, but this will be Georgia’s first test.
Tennessee at Florida (6 pm, ESPN). The Vols have been surprisingly shaky on offense this season, but that’s nothing compared to what Billy Napier is dealing with at Florida. If Napier is going to get a third year, he needs at least a good showing at home.
Vanderbilt at UNLV (6 pm, CBS Network). Between the road trip to Hawai’i last year and this game, Vanderbilt is just begging to lose to a Mountain West school. Barry Odom’s team is just 4-point underdogs, and the Rebels have several former Hogs on the roster.
